Landscape Construction
Shoreline services
Armour stone and erosion control along the Bay of Quinte, the Trent and the shorelines of Prince Edward County.
What the work involves
Armour stone
Placed and keyed in to take wave energy and ice, not stacked to look tidy for one season.
Toe protection
Stone protection at the toe of the bank, which is where most shoreline failure actually starts.
Restoration and planting
Regrading the bank behind the stone and planting it, so the repair holds and does not look like a repair.

Machines at the water
Shoreline work is heavy work in a place with no room for mistakes. Access, machine footing and where the stone gets staged are planned before a tracked machine goes anywhere near the bank.

Approvals come first
Shoreline alteration is regulated. Depending on the property, approval from the conservation authority may be required before work starts. We tell you what your site needs before it is quoted.
Shoreline questions
What shoreline work do you do?
We install shoreline protection to reduce erosion, including armour stone where it’s permitted, and the landscaping that ties the shoreline into the rest of the yard.
Is a permit needed for shoreline work?
Often, yes. Shoreline work usually needs approval from the local conservation authority and/or Fisheries and Oceans Canada. We can help with the application, but the permit remains the homeowner’s responsibility.
When is the best time for shoreline work?
We plan shoreline projects in spring and summer, and most work is done in the fall. Work in the water itself, such as dredging, needs a separate in-water permit and can only be done in a restricted window, roughly July to September.
My shoreline is washing out. What should I do first?
Call us for a site visit before the next high-water season. Erosion usually gets worse each year, and early repairs cost less than rebuilding after a large section fails.
