What is involved
Beds and planting
Trees, shrubs and perennials chosen for the exposure and the hardiness of this region, not for the picture on the tag.
Sod and seed
Grading, topsoil to depth, then sod or seed. Soil volumes are quoted in cubic metres.
Mulch and edging
Bed edges cut and defined, then mulched, so the line between bed and lawn stays where it was put.
Planted for this climate
Plant selection is set against the exposure, the drainage and the hardiness zone of the site. Anything we cannot source or cannot recommend for the location, we say so before it is quoted rather than after it dies.
And the year after
Planting is only worth doing if somebody keeps it. The same crews look after the beds through the season on a maintenance contract, so nothing gets planted that nobody can maintain.
Planting questions
Do you design planting plans?
Yes. Planting plans are part of our design service and are billed as design time. Each plan is built around your site’s sun, soil and drainage, and how much upkeep you want.
When is the best time to plant?
Spring and early fall are the best times to plant in the Quinte region. We’ll recommend timing for your specific plants.
Do you guarantee plants?
Yes. Trees and shrubs are guaranteed for one year from installation, with a one-time replacement of the plant material. Perennials are covered for the season they’re planted. Clients on a full-season maintenance program get a second year of coverage on trees and shrubs. Every planting client receives our Horticulture Care Package with full warranty terms and care instructions.
Do you install sod?
Yes. New sod needs regular watering for the first few weeks, and watering instructions are included in our Horticulture Care Package.
Can you look after the gardens once they’re planted?
Yes. Our Property Maintenance division can take over bed care, pruning and seasonal clean-ups on a regular schedule.
